In the first part, an explanation is given on “Why meditate” and in there we discussed about happiness and unhappiness, and what make you to be happy or unhappy and how happiness follows sorrow and sorrow follows happiness with some common examples from our own lives. Further ,It was also highlighted about the importance of developing “the mind of equilibrium”, the mid way of thinking.
Therefore , practice of meditation should be initiated and continued to practice in order to develop such a balance in mind to face any difficult situation and that is the only answer for someone to get away from suffering. Unlike proficient monks, masters or other serious meditators, the untrained people need basic techniques which can be practiced while they are attending day to day activities because it is hard for them to get isolated and go to monasteries for meditation. Although, there are centers for meditation, once you get back after spending certain time at retreats , naturally you may not continue your practice and you become unsatisfied . Most of the techniques are hard to practice at home or work places. You must be knowing that there are so many meditation techniques available in the world. Techniques of meditation are mostly inherited in countries and also differ for nations, cultures, religions and masters. In Buddhist philosophy, meditation techniques of Theravada, Mahayana and Tibetan teachings are specific to the country of origin. Other religions also practice various meditation techniques such as ,yoga, om , chanting ,soft relaxing music to improve their spiritual life. It is good to get knowledgeable on all available techniques. In the modern world you can select an any suitable method for meditation from various web sites, internet or books for your preference .There are so many relaxation techniques, some are combination of various methods of meditation and some are very hard traditional techniques. People will appreciate the freedom from suffering by practicing meditation methods.
It is very appropriate for one to learn about different techniques because that will increase the knowledge about meditation and also you are able to select a method of your preference. I have gained a lot of experience in my life when I was exploring about different techniques under different teachers. While I was practicing I started teaching to others about meditation and the interaction with others helped me a lot to develop my way of teaching, it is an unrestricted meditation technique which suits all, irrespective of their religion or culture.
